About Rangpur Government College

Rangpur Government College is one of the oldest and most prestigious higher educational institutions in northern Bangladesh. Since its establishment, the college has been committed to providing quality education and producing competent graduates with strong moral values.

The institution offers Higher Secondary, Degree (Pass), Honours and Master's programmes under the National University of Bangladesh and serves thousands of students every year.

Through its experienced teachers, modern classrooms, library, laboratories and extracurricular activities, the college continues to play a significant role in the educational development of the region.

Our Journey

History of Rangpur Government College

More than six decades of excellence in higher education.

1963

Foundation of the College

Rangpur Government College was established on 25 July 1963 through the dedicated efforts of Professor Emaz Uddin and many distinguished citizens of Rangpur to meet the growing demand for higher education.

1967

Permanent Campus

The college shifted to its permanent campus and expanded academic facilities including classrooms, laboratories and residential accommodation.

1971

Liberation War

Teachers and students actively participated in the Liberation War. Student Shaheed Moslem Uddin sacrificed his life for the independence of Bangladesh.

1984

Nationalization

The institution was officially nationalized on 01 November 1984, opening a new era of academic expansion and development.

1993

National University

Rangpur Government College became affiliated with the National University of Bangladesh and started offering Honours and Master's programmes.

Today

Academic Excellence

Today the college is one of the leading educational institutions in northern Bangladesh, providing quality education, research opportunities and leadership development.

The Department of Mathematics of Rangpur Government College started its Honours programme in 2011. Since then, the department has become one of the leading Mathematics departments under the National University of Bangladesh.
